Actually, the GIF is dying :(
C’mon JEPG 2000, this is your time to shine
This graph is so crazy misleading that it’s dizzying. Yes, in the context of other images that web developers use, GIF is not used nearly as often anymore. But that doesn’t mean it’s dying, it just means that no one in their right mind would attempt to build a HTML4 or HTML5 designed website with GIFs. That’s coo-coo bananas. They’re just being used in a more specialized way. In 2012, there’s no reason why anyone would ever make a static image in a GIF format. There’s no need. But 10 years ago, there was.
